Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Air Quality at the Portal and above?

Hi all, we have a day hike permit for next week and a camping reservation at the Portal. Right now, PurpleAir shows that the air quality in the valley is terrible due to all of the fires. Do you get above the smoke at the Portal and on the hike up Whitney, or is it still smoky at 8000+ feet? Thanks in advance for any advice.
