Looks like the missing hiker passed away as a result of a slip and fall on a steep chute:

Looking on the topo it must have been on the steep downslope from the trail toward Consultation lake, but I am a not sure if this is where he fell. My recollection from climbing up in spring conditions is that there tends to be a well trodden path in the snow leading to the chute so perhaps he went off course but it's not clear to me what happened.
