Heading down to Whitney this weekend for a Sunday (Dec 20th) summit attempt on the main trail (not the MR).

We anticipate up to a few inches of snow from storm activity passing through on the 16th and 17th.

For those who have summited in the winter season, how much of an inhibition is snow on the trail provided the weather conditions are sunny and clear? We'll both have microspikes given the conditions, but would love to hear any information on how much more technical the trail becomes with light snowfall on the ground.

We both have experience with strenuous hikes at altitude, but have not done much involving snow / ice.
