Doug at the Portal store gave my wife and I some really good advice on this issue. He said to carry the bladder under our jackets and other layers. This worked really well as the backpack belt holds the bladder in place. Plus just put the tube inside as well. When we went up the other day the low was around 20' and didn't have any freezing. Another bonus was also carrying less weight in the pack.
