If you have no takers yet, it’s not much, but I can offer you this . . .
Our group of four had a Day-Use permit for July 11th, but didn’t hike due to the fire, and we couldn’t stay until the Portal reopened. I was lucky enough to land another Day-Use permit for a group of “one” for Wednesday August 29th, plan to show up at the Trailhead at 1:00am and just hitch a ride with the first group that comes along.
If you can secure a permit at the Tuesday (8/28) afternoon lottery (2:00pm, no guarantees, but from what I saw, it didn’t look that hard), I would happy to hike with you early Wednesday morning.
Again, it’s not much I know, but will leave it as a standing offer . . . or cancel later if you find something better. Bruce
