Heads up that you may not have cell phone service in Horseshoe Meadows. I have Vzw and had little to none.
You might want to make transportation arrangements in advance.
That said, hitchhiking may be an option. I almost never pick them up on regular streets, but hikers are different. I gave a guy a ride from Lone Pine to his car at the portal last year. He hadn't been there long looking for a ride.
