Hi Kumar,
Since I never had any problems with altitude sickness before, I did not take anything.
I am still debating about what to do in future attempts and will consider it. I did not sleep at all that night and drank less water than I should have - both of which affect Altitude Sickness quite a bit.
I also did not acclimate at all (no prior hikes in the area or sleep at altitude) - that for sure will change in the future.
I like the Spot or the InReach and will be getting one. But for this trip I don't think you will really need it. The trail is so heavily traveled that you will run into someone every 10 minutes or much less (depends on what part of the trail you are on). Won't hurt - but I didn't feel like I needed it.
In fact, there are a few places where you will get cell reception when you have a clear line of sight to Lone Pine.
Hope this helps and good luck! When is your date?
