Thank you for tallying and posting this information. It's very valuable as I plan my bucket list hike to Whitney. I've tried for 3 years to get permits during Peak Seasons with no success. The permits I could get are for late October which is undesirable.
So, it looks like I have to take my chances and show up midweek in hopes to get an overnight permit. A big risk as I'm driving down from Seattle hitting the couple of Peaks along the way.
