PeteK: any ideas about current conditions on the hiking trail starting at Horseshoe Meadows via New Army Pass? Is there a lot of snow on that route as well? I was hoping to do that hike on July 1st 2017, but I don't have experience with crampons / iceaxes yet (I used Yaktrax and hiking poles to get past the last snowbound mile of the Clouds Rest trail in Yosemite yesterday, but don't know if those will be sufficient traction to get past softer/steeper snow at Mt Langley)
