I am looking to hike to Mt. Whitney again for the second time and forgot how exactly the lottery worked. I remember when I did it in 2013 you were able to select a primary data and up to 10 or so additional dates. Looking at previous lottery results (2014) I have seen that weekdays, especially Mondays in early/mid June there have mostly been less that 100 (total group size) that applied.
My question is, if I submit a lottery ticket with my primary date on a Monday in June/early July and there ends up being less than 100 (total group size applicants) on that date, will I be pretty much guaranteed a winning ticket?
I am trying to figure out the best way to ensure we do end up getting a permit, as hiking during the week would not be an issue.
