Aug 26 is a Wednesday. That is the best day of the week to get a walk-in permit. Last year there were over 20 permits that went unused in the last two Wednesdays in August.
Since some people will already have picked up their permits for the 26th the day before, AND because groups always have some people who bail out, you should have no trouble.
