Two of my co hikers hiked Clouds Rest about a month ago and when they learned that I wanted to take my group to Cathedral Lake they voiced their disapproval. Too crowded! They encountered 30 people on the summit of Clouds Rest and over a hundred hikers on the trail. They are afraid the Cathedral lake trail might be even busier.
I only had 5-8 people on the top of clouds rest when I was up there July 5th. And not all at the same time. Even had the top alone for a while before heading down.
Guess I was lucky.
