Publius, I have the same concern... I am bringing crampons/gaiters/ice axe unless I hear solid, first hand information before I depart the trailhead saying that they are absolutely not needed. Especially given the unstable weather in So Cal and all of the humidity in the air.

Sounds like this weather pattern will taper off over the next few days, which, I think, would reduce the probability of unpredictable severe weather bursts.
