So for those looking for a bear deterrent according to Mythbusters:
1. Bears are smart. Can open the sliding door of a mini van without destroying the van.
2. Ammonia soaked rags on the mini van don't keep the bear from his appointed rounds.
3. Large quantities of Capsicum annuum on the ground will detour a bear from your car and/or food.
Not saying it's the best for the forest just an interesting fact.
