Sorry to take so long to reply, HH. Mt Russell is one that the more enthusiastic climbers do, so not many here will report on it.
Looking around, Kurt Wedberg (
guide from SMI)
posted a picture about 2 weeks ago of Mt Russell from the Mt Whitney summit showing the east ridge. It looks like any worries with snow are over.
Here's the picture. KW's caption, "Here's a photo showing the SW Chute of Russell taken yesterday May 18:"

And then "graham"
posted this picture with the message:
"As of Sunday (June 2) Russell East Ridge is pretty much free of snow, just a few patches that can be stomped thru (carefully!)."
