I've done some Wilderness Ranger work in that area. Personally, I think the whole area is a unrecognized gem. Every trip I've done has seen very few people, and most of the area is pristene. I think all those lakes are nice (been to them all), and are filled with trout.

I believe I was able to see the back of Half-Dome from Post Peak.

I don't think you can choose wrong in this area. The trails directly out of Clover Meadow are definitely used more.

If you see a thin older vigorous man in a FS uniform on the trail, that is John Glenn. He is a volunteer of extraordinary skills. A couple of years back, he won the FS Directors Award for primitive skills. This means that as a volunteer, he was recognized ahead of all employees of the FS nationwide, which is remarkable. He is a great, but humble guy, and a retired Veterinary Professor from UC Davis.
