Hey All,

I will be up in Lone Pine either late next week or the week after for some educational lectures in Lo-Inyo Elementary and really wanted to get in an overnight hike to the top of Whitney. Unfortunately the latest weather reports are showing for snow, rain, and just not so good weather.

Does anyone have any advice, from past years or experience for whitney in early/mid october? I have never done Whitney as well, so primarily reading books on the hike, but just rather nervous with the predicted rain storms next week.

I know this might sound really bad and stupid (plenty of helo rescue papers out there for whitney), but I also do not have a group. I was either hoping for finding some people on the trail to join or perhaps taking the challenge of a solo, which might be a good few days with good weather and trails, but again, just seeking the advice from some whitney vets.

Just really looking to get the hike in before the season ends.

All the best,
Anthony

EDIT: Might be able to sneak in the hike on the 3-5th next week if that will make any significant difference...
