That should be great training for physical conditioning cowpie. I personally trained by running stairs at our local Junior college.That 3 days a week and strength training on isokenetic machines 3 times a week for 5 years before I decided to attempt Whitney. The unknown for everyone is not as much your physical conditioning which is important but the affects of altitude on you. You should get up to altitude to acclimate over 10K for several days before you attempt to hike Whitney.I am 58 now. I was 54 and 55 when i summited Whitney.
