I take it your permit is for an overnight hike.
The one way for someone here to get it is for you and that person to coordinate -- you call the Wilderness Permit office (760-873-2483) and release the permit, and then the other person call in immediately and request it.
Give it a few days to see if anyone is interested, and then the right thing to do is to just call in and release it.
Being it is so early in June, and the snow levels, there probably won't be that much demand for the permit. If you check our
Unused Permits numbers for 2010, you can see that during the first two weeks of June last year, there were 20 to 30 unused permits available every day.
