Mt Whitney Zone Forums Picture Gallery Horseshoe Meadows - Army Pass (Old) - New Army Pass Loop

Great day - June 28th, 2013. Up Old Army Pass, Down New Army Pass. Spectacular views of the lakes. Still Snow on Old Army Pass. I climbed straight up the last 40' rather than cross 20 to 30 feet of snow. and no idea where it led. When I walked down from the pass it was clear the easiest solution may have been to cross the snow field. However, I know nothing about the stability of a snow field, so was unwilling to take that chance.
